Nov 16, 2014 Sunday Agra – Delhi

First stop was a combined jewelry and embroidery shop.  For several generations the jewelers have supplied jewels to the embroiderers to include in the elaborate, three dimensional embroidered pieces.  They have a showroom with a number of extremely large embroidered pieces, including clothing and scenes, some as large as 4feet by 8feet.  Unfortunately they wouldn't allow pictures.

However, after viewing the embroidery they took us to the jewelry shop (of course) where they outfitted Mary with an ensemble of emerald pieces.  (Might have been able to afford just one of the pieces if we sold the house.)

We headed out of town through more markets to our next stop.

Fatehpur Sikri, a former capital of Mughal India, was built in 1569 and deserted when its water supply failed.  Most of the buildings were of sandstone with some marble inlay.

Then it was off to Delhi with a late arrival at the Imperial Hotel (built in 1931).
